JH Skincare specialises in IPL laser Pigmentation treatment at our clinic in Sydenham, near Beckenham. Lesions such as sun spots, lentigoes and freckles can be successfully removed creating even, clear, brighter skin.
Pigmentation
Light energy emitted from the IPL laser is absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within pigmented lesions heating the melanin and causing the destruction of the melanin-rich cells. This triggers the body’s natural healing process to stimulate the growth of new healthy skin. Pigmentation lesions such as sun spots and age spots on the backs of hands caused by years of sun damage and hormone changes can be successfully removed creating clear even skin. Melasma cannot be treated with our system however, it can be treated with Medik8 Peels, Dermalux LED and consistency with our recommended homecare. Please try our Light Fade SPF 50 serum for home care.
Recommended number of treatments: 3 – 6 treatments spaced every 4 – 6 weeks. The number of treatments will depend on the type and size of the pigmented lesion. Following your course of treatments, top-up treatments may be required once or twice a year.
Consultation procedure: Prior to treatment you must first undergo a FREE 1-hour consultation and patch test where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability for treatment. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and photos will be taken of the lesion to track the results of treatment.
What a happy client has said
As a lifelong gardener who enjoys the sunshine and getting my hands into the soil, not always with gloves, the resultant pigmentation to the back of my hands was almost inevitable. After four sessions of IPL Laser, I now have fabulous new hands which do not deserve to belong to my arms! They are soft and silky without any pigmentation and the beautiful lotions recommended for aftercare together with sunscreen and professional advice, will ensure that they will remain so.

FAQs
The light applicator from the IPL laser system is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. During the treatment, protective eyewear must be worn
Most people are suitable for treatment except very dark-skinned or tanned skin types. However, large, dark, mottled or raised pigmentation cannot be treated and may need to be checked by a dermatologist. Large dark moles or lesions covering a large part of the body cannot be treated. The pigmented marks that respond the best are superficial lesions such as those caused by sun damage (sun spots) and freckles.
Most clients describe the discomfort as mild and tolerable. No anaesthesia is required.
The treated area may feel warm and sensitive for the first few days post-treatment. The lesions may darken and may appear more obvious before they fade and “flake” away. Sometimes an initial whitening of the area is seen which quickly fades and the pigment gradually fades over the following few weeks.
The skin that surrounds the pigmented lesion may become red immediately after treatment. Most people experience no other side effects and the redness usually disappears within hours to a few days. Very rarely a small blister may form or the skin may become temporarily lighter or darker.
The length of each treatment will depend on the type and size of lesion present, but a typical session will take 15 – 30 minutes.
The number of treatments will depend on the type and size of the pigmented lesion but typically 1 – 3 sessions are required at 4 – 6 weeks intervals. We always recommend Dermalux LED after each treatment.
